"Frances the Fairy" a short story written by: Ann DeWitte

Once deep in the forest...

... a beautiful bloom shot forth out of the ground, and the quiet
of the forest was disturbed by a tinkling of joyous bells.

Out of the bloom burst a lovely little fairy!

Most fairies have so much magic in them when they appear that
they glisten. She didn't....

"Frances" knew that she was different and so did ALL of the magic
creatures in the woods.

After a few moments, a kindly older fairy named Ruby arrived.

When she saw Frances' distress, she decided that she would rub
up against her and give her part of her "shine". But alas, it did
not work!

Frances was so sad, but Ruby convinced her that everything would
be fine.

Ruby called ALL the fairies in to help...

They all began to dance and sway and laugh and play! They were
so happy that before long they were fluttering over Frances. And, as
they did, little pieces of dust fell from each of them onto her.

She was glistening, as was the forest floor around her!

Frances was so delighted that she shined, that she grew and glowed
brighter than all of the other fairies.

She was always shining and singing and shedding dust.
So you see, fairy dust comes from unconditional love and sharing all
you have with others. Occasionally life gets tough. That's why we need
dusting every now and again.

Because I still believe in fairies, it's easy to find
their trail and get some dust for you!'
